Sharon Ahn is a NJ-based/NYC-adjacent (via the GWB) songwriter, composer, performer, keyboard instrumentalist (piano, carillon, organ), music tech enthusiast, and music director with a B.A. in Music from Yale University.
While their background is in classical piano (Manhattan School of Music Pre-College), they fell in love with musical theatre somewhere along the way. They started music directing shows in college and has since worked at Interlochen Arts Camp as a collaborative pianist in theatre and as an accompanist for the Yale School of Drama (now DGSD) and the Shen Curriculum for Musical Theater.
At Yale, Sharon was the music director and pianist of Just Add Water (Yale’s best, worst, and only musical improv comedy group), where the members would improvise in different genres and end each show with a 20-minute, fully-improvised Broadway-style musical. Sharon was also formerly a member of the country’s oldest collegiate a cappella group, the Yale Whiffenpoofs.
Their interests include new and devised works, open tunings, electronic music production, and the DIY ethos, especially as they independently release music under the alias noremi as well as their instrumental project hyphenviii.
